BIRMINGHAM EYE EMERGENCY ESSENTIALS COURSE
The Birmingham Eye Emergency Essentials Course is held at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre (BMEC) Out Patients Department. We hope to restart the course in the summer of 2021.
All stations will consist of either practical or small-group tutorials.
There will be the following stations in the course:
The red eye
Loss of vision
Orbital emergencies/ Diplopia
How to check vision/ how to check intraocular pressure
How to examine an eye
How to use a slitlamp/ how to remove a foreign body
Canthotomy/ cantholysis
Chemical injuries
Target Audience: A&E doctors and nurse practitioners, GPs, anyone else who manages eye emergencies but would like to increase their confidence
Workshop Format:
9.30 – 10.00 - Registration and Introduction to Course
10.00 - 12.00 – small group tutorials and first practical station
12.00 – 12.30 - Lunch
12.30 - 14.30 - Practical stations
14.30 - 15.00 - Feedback and Debrief
